Structural & Thermal Systems Branch

Providing integrated system-level structural, dynamic, and thermal analysis in support of flight, ground, and test hardware design and development for the Agency’s Human Exploration and Operations, Science, Space Technology, and Aeronautics Research Mission Directorates. Analyses range from handbook calculations to highly complex finite element modeling/analysis in environments ranging from earth and other planetary atmospheres to the vacuum of space and the transitions in between.


  • Analysis model correlation and verification planning for thermal vacuum and structural (e.g. static, dynamic, and modal) testing
  • Arc-jet materials characterization testing
  • Coupled loads analysis of launch vehicles, spacecraft, and other aerospace systems
  • Fatigue analysis of aerospace systems
  • Static and dynamic loads, stress, and thermal analysis of complex aerospace systems
  • Steady-state and transient thermal analysis of complex aerospace systems
  • Structural and thermal design and analysis of electronic systems, science instruments, and spacecraft
  • Technical management of vehicle elements/systems, payloads, and instruments
  • Vibroacoustic analysis of launch vehicles
